Dr. Derrick Bowling

Florida Medical Director

  • A native of Russellville, Alabama, Dr. Bowling attended the University of Alabama from 1988-1994. He graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in German and History in 1992, and summa cum laude with a Master of Arts in German Literature in 1994...

    • Dr. Bowling taught German pronunciation as an Undergraduate Lecturer, and was an Instructor of German as a graduate student. He also taught distance education courses and community night courses for German with the arrival of the Mercedes plant. He taught high school freshman English and German in Ocala, Florida before leaving to pursue a career in medicine.

      From 1995 until 1998 he attended UAB to prepare for medical school. He began his medical education at UAB School of Medicine in 1998 and graduated in the Top 12% of his class in 2002. He completed his clinical years and residency at UAB Huntsville Family Medicine Residency. He was Chief Resident in his final year of training.

      An avid student of other cultures and languages, he enjoys traveling with his spouse. He speaks fluid German, and is currently studying French, Spanish, and Italian. He enjoys gardening, reading, attending plays and musicals, and playing cards with friends. He has been a runner since 2011 and has completed 26 half-marathons.

      He is a member of the American Association of Family Physicians, the Alabama Chapter of the AAFP, Walker County Medical Society, American Academy of Facial Esthetics and International Peptide Society.

    • After completing his family practice residency at UAB School of Medicine and obtaining his board certification, Dr. Fritz co-founded Regional Emergency Services, providing emergency department physicians for community hospitals in the southeast US. He has also worked full time in these emergency rooms while also practicing as a physician at UAB medical clinics in Birmingham, Alabama.

      During his residency, Dr. Fritz recognized a need for patients to be transported to the ER centers and co-founded AMCARE Ambulance to insure areas outside of the major metropolitan cities would have access to this vital service.

      In 2003, Dr. Fritz founded The Fritz Clinic. He developed a keen interest in treating patients utilizing integrative medicine protocols to address the need for bio-identical hormone replacement therapy for both men and women, nutritional and dietary programs, innovative intravenous therapies and detoxification. Dr. Fritz, certified as a provider, has also prescribed medical treatment in hyperbaric oxygen utilization.

      Dr. Fritz has trained with internationally known physicians in the Republic of Panama at Stem Cell Institue Panama with a relatively new concept in medicine, the introduction of Stem Cell therapy for the treatment of auto-immune conditions. He also is a co-owner of two medical clinics in Panama that specialize in optimal wellness and body energy testing. In 2010, Dr. Fritz felt compelled to address the growing issue of opioid dependency with physician based counseling and medically assisted treatment. The Fritz Clinic has become a leader in opioid addiction treatment with five clinics in Alabama.

      In 2017, Dr. Fritz joined Remedium Wellness as the National Medical Director . His Well Body – Well Mind approach to healing the addicted patient through total optimal wellness protocols is matched perfectly with the Remedium Wellness mission to address and be a major source for the elimination of this growing epidemic.
